With the easing of some Covid restrictions and the country wide vaccination programme. We have seen the early opening of outdoor hospitality venues, this week for the first time in nearly five months. Also, we are now able to meet up to a maximum of six people outdoors.
With the impending May Bank Holiday, many of us maybe visiting beer gardens, outdoor attractions or holding garden parties/barbeques with family and friends. It is important that we remain vigilant to Covid. This includes: following government guidelines in relation to
social distancing,
wearing of face coverings when required,
hand washing/sanitising etc.
Wherever, you are choosing to spend your Bank Holiday, we have put together some tips and advice to keep yourself and others safe over the weekend.
Sun Safety Tips
If the sun does make an appearance over the weekend make sure you:
spend time in the shade between 11am and 3pm
make sure you never burn
cover up with suitable clothing and sunglasses
use at least factor 30 sunscreen
take extra care with children
Barbeque Safety Tips
If you are going to have a barbeque, while you’re at home with the family, please follow some simple safety advice –
don't drink alcohol while cooking.
never leave the barbeque unattended
keep it well away from your shed and fence
never use petrol or paraffin
If you can’t stay home to have your barbecue, please don’t be tempted to take it out to parks or woodland, as this poses a potential fire hazard after the dry weather we have had.
